Community Service Projects

It’s a beautiful day to quilt..

.. but then when isn’t it?

As I sit on my deck, having morning coffee and checking some of my favorite blogs on the iPad, at what proposes to be a perfect summer day in Central NY,  I can’thelp buy enjoy the ever active hummingbirds.  Where do that all that energy anyways?

I’m thinking I could stay here’re awhile and read the latest book I’ve just downloaded -but then reality jumps in.  Quilt show in two days. The two quilts I’ll hang are done.  One still needs a label – but I will finish that while watching TV tonight.  I still have to finish the signs and layout for the Community Outreach and Demo areas –  but all will be ready by Thursday.

Cuddle Quilt made from orphan blocksbut all will be ready for setup on Thursday.

Today is also Sew Day at the library.  It’ll give me a chance to finish the binding for the Cuddle Quilts that we’ve decided to add to the work we’ll doing at the show in the community outreach area.  These are quilts carried in state police vehicles and given to children when the police have to remove them from their homes.  This one was made from blocks left over from a previous charity project.  I had just enough to finish the 18”x24” quilt of disappearing 9-patches.

We’re hoping that more show goers will be inspired to reach out to the community and offer the comfort of quilts to someone in need.

There is always time to quilt!
