Saturday was another sew day for Pauline, Lisa, Mae and myself. The four of us get together periodically to enjoy a dedicated day to sew and talk about quilting – What else would we talk about?
In addition it was Mae’s birthday. We get together, normally for lunch on our respective birthdays, but Mae said she wanted to spend “her day” as a Sew Day. It didn’t take any convincing to get the rest of us to readily agree.
Not only were we able to get some sewing done, have lunch, visit the quilt store that is only 5 miles from my home but Lisa shared the pieces she created at a recent class she took on thread painting. We even got the opportunity to try our hand at the technique. I can see where it could really become addictive.
I’m looking forward to taking a class myself now that I know it really isn’t all that intimidating!
Mae couldn’t help but show us the purchases she made at a quilt store in the Adirondacks when she was on vacation there recently. She really picked up some beautiful bargains. Unfortunately the store will be closing soon. It has always been one of my ‘must do’ stops whenever we were in the area.
At our visit on Saturday to Patchwork Plus I found some background fabric for a quilt I have been wanting to make. So today I had to make another visit to pick up not only the background but the fabric for the rest of the quilt.
This is the first purchase of fabric that I have made this year. I have been intent on finishing some of the UFO’s that seem to multiply in my storeroom. I’ve been able to finish 4 of them but that didn’t really even make a dent.
Now I can’t wait to get started on this new quilt – and what better timing – Our annual quilt retreat to Watson Homestead is next week!
So I guess the rest of the UFO’s are on hold for the time-being.There is always time to quilt!
