After looking out the window yesterday morning, I just had to take this picture. There is nothing like a sunny winter day in Upstate NY. It looked as though diamonds had been scattered over the fallen snow.
Of course winter does have it’s downside too. We had temperatures in the teens all last week. It was in the 20’s yesterday – downright balmy.
On the upside – it means that I can spend more time quilting!
This is one of two blocks for my new quilt. The second block will form an interlocking secondary pattern throughout the entire quilt.
Using batiks is a little out of the box for me. Up until last year, when the co-chair of our guild’s raffle quilt and I decided to use batiks, I had shied away from them. To my eye, the patterns were sometimes a bit “artsy.’ However the more I look at batiks lately, the more I appreciate just how beautiful some of the designs really are.
It’s always a good thing to keep one’s mind open to new things – and that certainly opens up new avenues of creativity when it comes to quilting! There is always time to quilt!
