Just spent 3 days last week enjoying the beauty of Upstate New York.
Last Tuesday friends invited us to join them on their boat cruising Otisco Lake.
The eastern most and one of the smallest of the Fingerlakes, the name is Iroquois for ‘waters much dried away’. It was once marshland but dams built in 1869 and 1908 made the area the lake it is today.
This weekend was spent camping with my daughter and son-in-law kayaking on Mountain Lake in the Adirondacks. It was certainly the highlight of the trip!
We also saw a number of loons including these two juveniles.
The adults quickly disappear beneath the water as you approach but the youngsters are very happy to swim and frolic as you are paddling by – and are not camera-shy.
This is one of the many reasons we live in Central New York! There is an abundance of lakes such as these – right in our backyard!
There is always time to quilt!
